Description

Inspect a supplied source path against authorized prefixes.

Source support, credit and authorization are different concepts. Supplied flags and vocabularies can support record bookkeeping but cannot independently establish consent, cultural authority, equitable credit or legal reuse rights.

Inspect a supplied source path against authorized prefixes.

When to use this tool

Use Authorized Term Source Depth when checking one explicitly supplied support, permission or credit convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter term, sourcePath, authorizedPrefixes, separator. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read depth, authorizedBySuppliedPrefix, termPresent. Inspect authorizedBySuppliedPrefix, termPresent before interpreting the associated values.

Inspect a supplied source path against authorized prefixes. Require nonempty separator; join path components and test exact prefix or prefix-plus-separator boundary; return depth, authorizedBySuppliedPrefix and termPresent.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • No filesystem or permission system is accessed; path components and actual cultural authority are not authenticated.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Verify the actual provenance, permissions and relevant community expectations before reusing or interpreting material.
