Float Consumption Per Delay Tool

Supplied schedule float ledger without critical-path or contractual delay attribution.

Loading tool…

Description

Return float consumed by delay after recovery.

Construction bookkeeping distinguishes installed, accepted, credited and reworked quantities, as well as contractual cost and schedule conventions. A local variance or budget term can expose a gap without verifying work quality, payment entitlement or the project critical path.

Return float consumed by delay after recovery.

When to use this tool

Use Float Consumption Per Delay when checking a supplied construction quantity, charge, record or schedule convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter initialFloat, delay, suppliedRecovery. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read consumedFloat, remainingFloat. Use the output convention below.

Return float consumed by delay after recovery. Require initialFloat/delay >= 0 and suppliedRecovery in [0,delay]; consumedFloat = delay-recovery, remainingFloat = initial-consumed.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Negative remaining float is retained; this is not critical-path analysis or a legal delay allocation.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified project records, a complete schedule and governing contracts; involve qualified construction, engineering or legal professionals for practical decisions.
