Camera Trap Simultaneous Trigger Count Budget Tool

Deduplicate caller-paired trigger records without deciding species detections or independence.

Description

Deduplicate paired camera triggers by a supplied simultaneous count.

Conservation monitoring depends on survey effort, detection assumptions, area/time bases and explicit unknown-status policies. A local probability or coverage ratio describes supplied observations and models without establishing population abundance, ecological success or legal protection.

Deduplicate paired camera triggers by a supplied simultaneous count.

When to use this tool

Use Camera Trap Simultaneous Trigger Count Budget when checking a supplied conservation-monitoring, geometry or evidence-basis convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter firstTriggers, secondTriggers, pairedSimultaneous. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read uniqueEvents, duplicateRecords. Use the output convention below.

Deduplicate paired camera triggers by a supplied simultaneous count. Require nonnegative whole trigger counts and pairedSimultaneous <= their minimum; uniqueEvents = first+second-paired, duplicateRecords = paired.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Pairs are supplied, not matched from timestamps or images; event counts do not identify individual animals.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use an appropriate ecological sampling and detection model, verified field records and actual habitat geometry for substantive conservation inference.
