Gene Set Universe Intersection Count Tool

Count distinct exact supplied identifiers; no gene alias database is consulted.

Description

Count distinct gene IDs inside and outside a supplied universe.

Computational biology distinguishes discrete counts, probabilistic weights, sequence indexes and logical rules. A supplied event or record flag can be summarized without simulating a stochastic process, validating a sequence annotation or establishing a biological mechanism.

Count distinct gene IDs inside and outside a supplied universe.

When to use this tool

Use Gene Set Universe Intersection Count when checking the stated count, sequence, Boolean-rule or support convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter geneIds, universeIds. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read insideUniverse, outsideUniverse. Use the output convention below.

Count distinct gene IDs inside and outside a supplied universe. Deduplicate literal geneIds after partitioning by membership in universeIds.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • No identifier normalization, organism/version lookup, enrichment significance or biological interpretation is performed.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the complete sequence, identifier universe or stochastic/logical model for actual inference, sampling and uncertainty analysis.
