Community Room Booking Buffer

Compare adjacent community-room bookings with an explicit required changeover duration on one common timeline.

Description

Calculate a supplied room-booking gap and buffer margin.

Community records describe contributions, volunteer time, grants, notices, language requests and meeting participation. Person-minutes differ from elapsed task time, assigned in-kind values require a valuation basis, and a nominal seat count need not be a whole-person allocation. Supplied participation or permission flags do not verify actual access, consent or eligibility.

Calculate a supplied room-booking gap and buffer margin.

When to use this tool

Use Community Room Booking Buffer when you already have previousBookingEnd, nextBookingStart, requiredBuffer and need to calculate a supplied room-booking gap and buffer margin.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter previousBookingEnd, nextBookingStart, requiredBuffer. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read availableBuffer, margin. Use the output convention below.

Require requiredBuffer>=0; available=nextStart-previousEnd, margin=available-requiredBuffer.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Negative gaps indicate supplied overlap. No actual room availability, cleaning, access, booking right or suitable turnaround is verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review the underlying meeting, funding, service and volunteer records with the applicable project rules. Use full budgets, schedules and participation evidence when evaluating delivery or fairness; local labels and arithmetic retain only the stated assumptions.
