Description
Return deadline offset only for comparable clock records.
Cognitive research records can encode stimuli, response timing, probability assumptions and observation support. Local differences and caller-defined tolerance labels do not establish perceptual validity, a cognitive mechanism, statistical equivalence or a clinical assessment.
Return deadline offset only for comparable clock records.
When to use this tool
Use Response Deadline Slack when checking a supplied cognitive-task timing, stimulus, probability or evidence convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter responseTime, deadlineTime, responseClock, deadlineClock, suppliedResponseOffset, offsetKnown, positiveMeansLate. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read defined, signedOffset. Inspect defined before interpreting the associated values.
Return deadline offset only for comparable clock records. defined means matching clock labels or offsetKnown; subtract suppliedResponseOffset only across differing clocks, compare to deadline and orient sign under positiveMeansLate, otherwise return zero.1

| responseTime | Response Time | Required. Finite number. |
| deadlineTime | Deadline Time | Required. Finite number. |
| responseClock | Response Clock | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| deadlineClock | Deadline Clock | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| suppliedResponseOffset | Supplied Response Offset | Required. Finite number. |
| offsetKnown | Offset Known | Required. Boolean. |
| positiveMeansLate | Positive Means Late | Required. Boolean. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| defined | Whether the stated denominator or information basis permits interpretation of the associated value; inspect before using a placeholder. | Required. Boolean. |
| signedOffset | Oriented corrected response minus deadline when defined, zero placeholder otherwise. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Zero with defined false is a placeholder; a supplied offset flag does not establish synchronization or response validity.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
