Research Motion Measurement Offset Tool

Compare supplied research motion measurements under explicit instrument/sign conventions; no manipulation or efficacy claim.

Description

Correct a research motion value for zero and axis direction.

Research effect estimates depend on outcome definitions, unit conversions, orientation and statistical assumptions. A written rounding envelope describes reporting precision; an effect-size contribution or supplied interval is different from a fitted analysis, a confidence statement or evidence of clinical benefit.

Correct a research motion value for zero and axis direction.

When to use this tool

Use Research Motion Measurement Offset when checking the stated effect-size, measurement or interval convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter recorded, suppliedInstrumentZero, suppliedAxisSign, reference. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read corrected, residual. Use the output convention below.

Correct a research motion value for zero and axis direction. Require suppliedAxisSign +1 or -1; corrected = (recorded-zero)*sign, residual = corrected-reference.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Units must match; no instrument calibration, physical motion, treatment effect or clinical meaning is established.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use a complete, justified statistical analysis and original study data; distinguish reporting precision from sampling uncertainty and assess clinical relevance independently.
