Description
Check a supplied recorded age against a half-open day band.
Developmental records distinguish calendar age, supplied age corrections, observation states, assent and privacy choices. A corrected age can be negative under supplied assumptions, and a missing response differs from an observed zero. A display mask changes presentation without protecting the underlying record.
Check a supplied recorded age against a half-open day band.
When to use this tool
Use Developmental Sample Age Band Boundary when you already have ageDays, lowerInclusiveDays, upperExclusiveDays and need to check a supplied recorded age against a half-open day band.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter ageDays, lowerInclusiveDays, upperExclusiveDays. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read withinBand. Inspect withinBand before interpreting the associated values.
Require safe whole nonnegative age/lower bound and upper at least lower+1; return lower<=age<upper.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| ageDays | Age Days | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| lowerInclusiveDays | Lower Inclusive Days | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| upperExclusiveDays | Upper Exclusive Days | Required. Safe integer. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| withinBand | lowerInclusiveDays<=ageDays<upperExclusiveDays. | Required. Boolean. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Lower is included and upper excluded. No chronological/corrected-age choice, development, eligibility, reference norm or appropriate age band is selected.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use the complete observation or assessment method, age convention and consent context. Review source records and data protection together; local counts, labels and geometric measurements do not establish development, diagnosis or appropriate support.
