Recycle Split Flow Factor Tool

Supplied steady flow-split accounting without designing a process or selecting operating conditions.

Loading tool…

Description

Return recycle, recovered-recycle and unrecycled flows.

Process balances distinguish fresh, recycled, purged and reacted quantities on a common time and material basis. Local residuals or geometric retention factors can diagnose supplied bookkeeping, while actual steady state, feasible composition and reaction performance require a complete physical model.

Return recycle, recovered-recycle and unrecycled flows.

When to use this tool

Use Recycle Split Flow Factor when checking the stated recycle, purge, conversion or balance convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter grossFlow, recycleFraction, suppliedRecoveryFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read recycledFlow, recoveredRecycle, netUnrecycled. Use the output convention below.

Return recycle, recovered-recycle and unrecycled flows. Require grossFlow >= 0 and recycle/recovery fractions in [0,1]; recycled = gross*recycle, recovered = recycled*recovery, netUnrecycled = gross*(1-recycle).1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Recovered-recycle loss is not included in netUnrecycled; no full process balance or recovery performance is verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Reconcile every relevant stream and component with compatible units; validate the complete steady-state or dynamic process model and actual material properties.
