Description
Convert a supplied ideal-gas volume between absolute pressure/temperature references.
Engineering scalar terms depend on mass versus mole bases, absolute state variables and the process boundary. A vapor/liquid ratio differs from a reaction equilibrium constant, space time differs from a measured residence-time distribution, and fouling-area scaling preserves a specified heat-transfer product. Supplied terms do not validate an actual process.
Convert a supplied ideal-gas volume between absolute pressure/temperature references.
When to use this tool
Use Gas Holder Normal Volume Correction when you already have measuredVolume, measuredAbsolutePressure, referenceAbsolutePressure, measuredKelvin, referenceKelvin and need to convert a supplied ideal-gas volume between absolute pressure/temperature references.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter measuredVolume, measuredAbsolutePressure, referenceAbsolutePressure, measuredKelvin, referenceKelvin. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read referenceVolume. Use the output convention below.
Require volume>=0 and absolute pressures/Kelvin temperatures positive/finite; multiply by measuredPressure/referencePressure and referenceKelvin/measuredKelvin.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| measuredVolume | Measured Volume | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| measuredAbsolutePressure | Positive absolute pressure, not gauge pressure; same unit as referenceAbsolutePressure. | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| referenceAbsolutePressure | Reference Absolute Pressure | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| measuredKelvin | Positive absolute temperature in K. | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| referenceKelvin | Reference Kelvin | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| referenceVolume | Ideal fixed-amount gas scaling V*(P/P_ref)*(T_ref/T); no particular standard reference state is chosen. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Assumes constant gas amount and ideal behavior. No fixed normal/STP conditions, compressibility, humidity, actual state or safe gas-handling conditions are selected.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use complete material, energy, phase and equipment models with verified operating conditions. Check concentration bases, gas reference states and measurement uncertainty before applying local ratios or balances to process design or operation.
