Line Weight Print Reproduction Minimum Checker

Caller specification screen for lineWidthMm only; not universal legibility, ADA compliance, print readiness or accessibility certification.

Description

Check a measured line width against caller-supplied reproduction bounds.

A map's line-width specification can set a permitted range for reproduction. This checker compares an already measured width in millimeters with that supplied range.

When to use this tool

Check a measured line width against caller-supplied reproduction bounds. Use it when the input measurements and conventions below match the operation you need.

  • Prepare lineWidthMm, callerMinimum, callerMaximum, respecting the measurement basis and boundaries below.
  • Compare the worked example with your intended operation before reusing its result.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter every field in the input table using the stated units and exact supported selector spelling where applicable.
  2. Run the tool. Correct input errors before interpreting an output.
  3. Read the result fields below; use accompanying flags and the stated sign, boundary or model convention when interpreting a number.

The tool rejects reversed callerMinimum and callerMaximum values, then returns withinCallerBounds for an inclusive comparison of lineWidthMm with those bounds.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
lineWidthMmLine width mm. Millimeters.Finite number
callerMinimumCaller-supplied lower bound in the same units and measurement basis as lineWidthMm.Finite number
callerMaximumCaller-supplied upper bound in the same units and measurement basis as lineWidthMm.Finite number
Output fieldInterpretation
resultObject containing the following named result fields.
result.withinCallerBoundsInclusive comparison with the ordered lower and upper bounds supplied by the caller.

Limitations and assumptions

  • It does not measure artwork or establish a universal printable minimum. Printer resolution, ink spread, background contrast and accessibility require separate assessment.
  • Every declared field is required and unexpected fields are rejected. Numeric inputs must be finite; input errors are distinct from a valid false result or an explicitly qualified output.
  • Extremely large inputs and nonfinite or excessively large outputs are rejected. List positions reported by the tool use zero-based indices unless stated otherwise.

Alternative or Complementary methods

For a map-layout decision, inspect the rendered map at its intended size as well as its numerical dimensions. For classification or coordinate work, retain the chosen boundary and coordinate conventions with the result. Compare the scope of the nearby tools below before substituting one.
