Leader Line Maximum Length Rule Checker
Caller specification screen for leaderLengthMm only; not universal legibility, ADA compliance, print readiness or accessibility certification.
Description
Check whether a measured map leader-line length lies within a caller-supplied millimeter range.
A map leader line connects a displaced label to its feature. Its permitted length belongs to the map's design specification; this checker compares a measured millimeter length with the bounds you supply.
When to use this tool
Check whether a measured map leader-line length lies within a caller-supplied millimeter range. Use it when the input measurements and conventions below match the operation you need.
- Prepare leaderLengthMm, callerMinimum, callerMaximum, respecting the measurement basis and boundaries below.
- Compare the worked example with your intended operation before reusing its result.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter every field in the input table using the stated units and exact supported selector spelling where applicable.
- Run the tool. Correct input errors before interpreting an output.
- Read the result fields below; use accompanying flags and the stated sign, boundary or model convention when interpreting a number.
The tool first requires callerMinimum to be no greater than callerMaximum. It returns true exactly when leaderLengthMm is at least the minimum and at most the maximum, including both endpoints.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| leaderLengthMm | Leader length mm. Millimeters. | Finite number |
| callerMinimum | Caller-supplied lower bound in the same units and measurement basis as leaderLengthMm. | Finite number |
| callerMaximum | Caller-supplied upper bound in the same units and measurement basis as leaderLengthMm. | Finite number |
| Output field | Interpretation |
|---|---|
| result | Object containing the following named result fields. |
| result.withinCallerBounds | Inclusive comparison with the ordered lower and upper bounds supplied by the caller. |
{
"input": {
"leaderLengthMm": 40,
"callerMinimum": 0,
"callerMaximum": 30
},
"output": {
"result": {
"withinCallerBounds": false
}
}
} Limitations and assumptions
- The tool does not measure a map, inspect competing labels, or establish readability, accessibility compliance or print readiness. The bounds themselves are caller supplied.
- Every declared field is required and unexpected fields are rejected. Numeric inputs must be finite; input errors are distinct from a valid false result or an explicitly qualified output.
- Extremely large inputs and nonfinite or excessively large outputs are rejected. List positions reported by the tool use zero-based indices unless stated otherwise.
Alternative or Complementary methods
For a map-layout decision, inspect the rendered map at its intended size as well as its numerical dimensions. For classification or coordinate work, retain the chosen boundary and coordinate conventions with the result. Compare the scope of the nearby tools below before substituting one.
