Seed Germination Status Code

Encode explicit germination observation and exclusion flags without evaluating seed viability.

Description

Label supplied germination observation and exclusion flags.

Botanical observations distinguish specimen provenance, sampling states, germination records, image area and category vocabularies. Excluded observations differ from failed germination, and a pixel-area calibration must use an area ratio rather than a length ratio. Source-qualified labels preserve reported identifications without confirming them.

Label supplied germination observation and exclusion flags.

When to use this tool

Use Seed Germination Status Code when you already have observed, germinated, excluded and need to label supplied germination observation and exclusion flags.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter observed, germinated, excluded. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read status. Use the output convention below.

Require germinated to imply observed even if excluded; then return excluded first, not-observed next, otherwise germinated or not-germinated.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input

germinatedTrue requires observed=true even if excluded=true later selects the excluded status.Required. Boolean.
excludedExcludedRequired. Boolean.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
statusStatusRequired. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Excluded records still need internally consistent observation flags. No germination, seed condition, viability, species or appropriate exclusion is observed or inferred.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect the original specimens, observation logs, calibrated images and taxonomic sources. Use the complete survey or experimental method for biological interpretation; local fractions and record checks do not infer unobserved states or mechanisms.
