Description

Preserve supplied collector wording and collection-number text as a pair.

Botanical observations distinguish specimen provenance, sampling states, germination records, image area and category vocabularies. Excluded observations differ from failed germination, and a pixel-area calibration must use an area ratio rather than a length ratio. Source-qualified labels preserve reported identifications without confirming them.

Preserve supplied collector wording and collection-number text as a pair.

When to use this tool

Use Herbarium Collector Number Token when you already have collectorWording, collectionNumber and need to preserve supplied collector wording and collection-number text as a pair.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter collectorWording, collectionNumber. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read token. Use the output convention below.

Require both nonempty; serialize [collectorWording,collectionNumber] as JSON-array text.1

}

Limitations and assumptions

  • Number text is not parsed. No collector, specimen, numbering system, uniqueness or actual collection is verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect the original specimens, observation logs, calibrated images and taxonomic sources. Use the complete survey or experimental method for biological interpretation; local fractions and record checks do not infer unobserved states or mechanisms.
