Description
Return concentration after transfer with supplied carryover volume.
Laboratory quantities depend on sample volume, concentration basis, blank correction, geometry and calibration. A dilution, recovery fraction or signal correction evaluates a supplied measurement model without validating the assay, identifying a substance or establishing biological or clinical performance.
Return concentration after transfer with supplied carryover volume.
When to use this tool
Use Microplate Dilution Transfer Carryover Term when checking the stated laboratory bookkeeping, signal, sample or measurement convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter sourceConcentration, transferVolume, diluentVolume, deadVolume. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read nextConcentration, dilutionFraction. Use the output convention below.
Return concentration after transfer with supplied carryover volume. Require nonnegative transfer/dead/diluent volumes and positive total; dilutionFraction = (transfer+dead)/(transfer+dead+diluent), nextConcentration = sourceConcentration*fraction.1

} Limitations and assumptions
- Dead volume is assumed to contain source-concentration material; additive volumes and ideal mixing are assumptions, not a verified pipetting procedure.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use verified sample records, calibrated equipment and an appropriate validated measurement method; assess uncertainty and practical laboratory conditions independently.
