Description
Calculate supplied dry-matter fraction and wet-to-dry factor.
Biotechnology records distinguish sample and run identifiers, assay observations, replicate positions and quantity bases. Row-major indexing needs an explicit origin, and a wet-to-dry mass factor is the inverse of a dry-mass fraction. Supplied labels and scalar ratios do not validate an assay, establish identity or demonstrate biological performance.
Calculate supplied dry-matter fraction and wet-to-dry factor.
When to use this tool
Use Biomass Sample Dry Wet Weight Factor when you already have wetMass, measuredDryMass and need to calculate supplied dry-matter fraction and wet-to-dry factor.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter wetMass, measuredDryMass. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read dryMatterFraction, wetToDryMassFactor. Use the output convention below.
Require wetMass positive/finite and dry mass in (0,wet]; return dry/wet and wet/dry.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| wetMass | Wet Mass | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| measuredDryMass | Measured Dry Mass | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| dryMatterFraction | measuredDryMass/wetMass. | Required. Finite number. |
| wetToDryMassFactor | wetMass/measuredDryMass, reciprocal of dryMatterFraction; multiply dry mass to estimate wet mass. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The second output is wet mass per dry mass, not its inverse. No drying, moisture, biomass identity, representative sampling or procedure is verified.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Review original sample, instrument and assay records with the full calibration and experimental method. Check units, index conventions and source provenance before combining local results into an interpretation.
