Description
Compare a dilution's reciprocal with a reported titre.
Laboratory quantities depend on sample volume, concentration basis, blank correction, geometry and calibration. A dilution, recovery fraction or signal correction evaluates a supplied measurement model without validating the assay, identifying a substance or establishing biological or clinical performance.
Compare a dilution's reciprocal with a reported titre.
When to use this tool
Use Assay Titre Reciprocal Pair when checking the stated laboratory bookkeeping, signal, sample or measurement convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter dilutionFraction, reportedReciprocal. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read reciprocal, residual. Use the output convention below.
Compare a dilution's reciprocal with a reported titre. Require dilutionFraction in (0,1] and reportedReciprocal >= 0; reciprocal = 1/fraction, residual = reported-reciprocal.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| dilutionFraction | Dilution Fraction Unit: 1. | Required. Finite number; maximum 1; strictly above 0. |
| reportedReciprocal | Reported Reciprocal | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| reciprocal | Reciprocal | Required. Finite number. |
| residual | Signed difference in the direction stated above, with matching units. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This checks a supplied label convention rather than dilution preparation, biological endpoint or a clinically meaningful titre.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use verified sample records, calibrated equipment and an appropriate validated measurement method; assess uncertainty and practical laboratory conditions independently.
