Description
Return a plate-well label and row-major index.
Laboratory quantities depend on sample volume, concentration basis, blank correction, geometry and calibration. A dilution, recovery fraction or signal correction evaluates a supplied measurement model without validating the assay, identifying a substance or establishing biological or clinical performance.
Return a plate-well label and row-major index.
When to use this tool
Use Biotechnology: Assay Plate Row Column Well when checking the stated laboratory bookkeeping, signal, sample or measurement convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter rowIndex, column, rowCount, columnCount. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read result. Expand result to inspect the returned fields.
Return a plate-well label and row-major index. Require rowCount 1..26, columnCount 1..128, zero-based rowIndex and one-based column in bounds; well = letter A+rowIndex followed by column, linearIndex = rowIndex*columns+column-1.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| rowIndex | Row Index | Required. Safe integer. Calculation range: 0 through rowCount - 1, inclusive. |
| column | Column | Required. Safe integer. Calculation range: 1 through columnCount, inclusive. |
| rowCount | Row Count | Required. Safe integer. Calculation range: 1 through 26, inclusive. |
| columnCount | Column Count | Required. Safe integer. Calculation range: 1 through 128, inclusive. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| result | Returned calculated value or nested object under the stated output convention. | Required. Object. |
| result.well | Well | Calculated result member: string. |
| result.linearIndex | Linear Index | Calculated result member: number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This is the stated coordinate convention, not physical plate identification, sample assignment or experimental validity.
- Outputs are nested inside result. Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use verified sample records, calibrated equipment and an appropriate validated measurement method; assess uncertainty and practical laboratory conditions independently.
