Description
Measure a supplied sample time's signed reference-hour offset.
Biomonitoring records distinguish specimen and collection provenance, observation states, source-qualified results and supplied exposure labels. A local comparison or normalized value depends on its stated reference and measurement basis. Recorded observations do not by themselves establish exposure history, biological harm or an appropriate intervention.
Measure a supplied sample time's signed reference-hour offset.
When to use this tool
Use Biomonitoring Sample Time Offset when you already have referenceHours, sampleHours and need to measure a supplied sample time's signed reference-hour offset.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter referenceHours, sampleHours. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read signedGap. Use the output convention below.
Return sampleHours-referenceHours.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| referenceHours | Reference Hours | Required. Finite number. |
| sampleHours | Sample Hours | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| signedGap | Signed Gap | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- No actual collection, clock, timing convention, exposure interval, pharmacokinetics or appropriate sample time is verified.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Review original specimen, laboratory, collection and exposure records with the full assessment method. Verify comparability and provenance before drawing health or environmental conclusions from local flags, labels or arithmetic.
