Description
Return isotope-standard corrected signals and normalized ratio.
Biomarker normalization changes the reporting basis, for example from sample volume to creatinine, lipid mass, moles or matrix quantity. The numerator, denominator and conversion factors must describe compatible quantities; normalization does not by itself establish exposure, toxicity or clinical meaning.
Return isotope-standard corrected signals and normalized ratio.
When to use this tool
Use Biomonitoring Isotope Standard Ratio when converting or comparing the stated analytical reporting basis.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter analyteSignal, standardSignal, analyteBlank, standardBlank, suppliedReference. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read correctedAnalyte, correctedStandard, ratio, normalized. Use the output convention below.
Return isotope-standard corrected signals and normalized ratio. Require standardSignal != standardBlank and suppliedReference > 0; subtract both blanks, ratio = correctedAnalyte/correctedStandard, normalized multiplies ratio by suppliedReference.1

} Limitations and assumptions
- Signed corrected standard is accepted; this is a supplied response model rather than a fitted calibration or concentration validation.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Verify units, matrix identity, method calibration and the intended normalization model before making exposure or health inferences.
