Description
Compare two methods after supplied scaling.
Biomarker normalization changes the reporting basis, for example from sample volume to creatinine, lipid mass, moles or matrix quantity. The numerator, denominator and conversion factors must describe compatible quantities; normalization does not by itself establish exposure, toxicity or clinical meaning.
Compare two methods after supplied scaling.
When to use this tool
Use Biomonitoring Assay Method Bridge Gap when converting or comparing the stated analytical reporting basis.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter firstResult, secondResult, firstFactor, secondFactor, reference. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read firstCoherent, secondCoherent, difference, relativeDifference. Use the output convention below.
Compare two methods after supplied scaling. Require both factors > 0 and reference != 0; difference = secondResult*secondFactor-firstResult*firstFactor, relativeDifference = difference/reference.1

| firstFactor | First Factor | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| secondFactor | Second Factor | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| reference | Reference | Required. Finite number. |

|---|---|---|
| firstCoherent | First Coherent | Required. Finite number. |
| secondCoherent | Second Coherent | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The reference may be signed; compatible analytical meaning and unit factors are supplied, without establishing method equivalence.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
