Analyte Matrix Basis Factor Tool

Normalize a supplied bench analyte quantity to an explicit matrix reporting basis without exposure interpretation.

Loading tool…

Description

Return analyte amount on a supplied matrix reporting basis.

Biomarker normalization changes the reporting basis, for example from sample volume to creatinine, lipid mass, moles or matrix quantity. The numerator, denominator and conversion factors must describe compatible quantities; normalization does not by itself establish exposure, toxicity or clinical meaning.

Return analyte amount on a supplied matrix reporting basis.

When to use this tool

Use Analyte Matrix Basis Factor when converting or comparing the stated analytical reporting basis.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter amount, matrixAmount, reportingBasis. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read normalizedAmount. Use the output convention below.

Return analyte amount on a supplied matrix reporting basis. Require matrixAmount and reportingBasis > 0; normalizedAmount = amount*reportingBasis/matrixAmount.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Matrix and reporting quantities must share units; the result does not identify an analyte or validate an exposure measurement.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Verify units, matrix identity, method calibration and the intended normalization model before making exposure or health inferences.
