Tendon Strain Slack Length Reference Tool

Engineering strain relative to a caller-supplied slack length; negative values remain visible without implying tendon compression mechanics.

Description

Return tendon extension, engineering strain and reference gap.

Biomechanical normalization depends on a body, material or reference-length basis. A dimensionless force, strain or allocation fraction can be consistent with supplied numbers without establishing actual anatomy, healthy motion, appropriate training or safe tissue loading.

Return tendon extension, engineering strain and reference gap.

When to use this tool

Use Tendon Strain Slack Length Reference when checking the stated biomechanical scale, strain or mass-basis convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter length, slackLength, referenceStrain. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read strain, extension, strainGap. Use the output convention below.

Return tendon extension, engineering strain and reference gap. Require length >= 0 and slackLength > 0; extension = length-slackLength, strain = extension/slackLength, strainGap subtracts referenceStrain.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Lengths below slack give negative strain; no tendon force, tissue health or appropriate rehabilitation target is inferred.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use calibrated measurements and an appropriate complete biomechanical model; consult qualified health or movement professionals for care, rehabilitation or safe activity decisions.
