Print BED Row Column Position

Map explicit one-based print-bed row and column to a row-major zero-based position within supplied dimensions.

Description

Map a supplied print-bed row and column to a zero-based row-major position.

Fabrication records distinguish supplied design versions, geometry, image clocks and material lots. Porosity depends on an envelope-volume definition, compression-positive strain differs from extension-positive strain, and nominal circular nozzle area does not determine printed line width. These scalar terms preserve supplied measurement assumptions.

Map a supplied print-bed row and column to a zero-based row-major position.

When to use this tool

Use Print BED Row Column Position when you already have oneBasedRow, oneBasedColumn, columnCount, rowCount and need to map a supplied print-bed row and column to a zero-based row-major position.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter oneBasedRow, oneBasedColumn, columnCount, rowCount. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read zeroBasedLinearIndex. Use the output convention below.

Require positive safe dimensions, one-based coordinates within bounds, and a safe rowCount*columnCount product. Return (row-1)*columnCount+column-1.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
oneBasedRowOne Based RowRequired. Safe integer; minimum 1.
oneBasedColumnOne Based ColumnRequired. Safe integer; minimum 1.
columnCountColumn CountRequired. Safe integer; minimum 1.
rowCountRow CountRequired. Safe integer; minimum 1.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
zeroBasedLinearIndex(row-1)*columnCount+column-1, with an additional safe total-grid-size guard.Required. Safe integer.

Limitations and assumptions

  • The total-grid safety guard can reject dimensions even if the requested index is small. No physical bed layout, spacing, orientation or print operation is inferred.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect calibrated geometry, controlled design/material records and the complete process model. Use appropriate physical and biological assessment when evaluating a real construct, device or fabrication condition.
