Description
Return pore volume and porosity.
Biofabrication bookkeeping separates nominal geometry, deposition, material bases, layer heights and verification assertions. A local surface, fill fraction or dimensional residual describes supplied values rather than demonstrating an actual construct’s shape, material quality or biological suitability.
Return pore volume and porosity.
When to use this tool
Use Construct Porosity Volume Term when checking the stated benign build geometry, measurement, material or record convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter envelopeVolume, solidVolume. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read poreVolume, porosity. Use the output convention below.
Return pore volume and porosity. Require envelopeVolume > 0 and solidVolume within [0,envelope]; poreVolume = envelope-solid, porosity = pore/envelope.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| envelopeVolume | Envelope Volume | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| solidVolume | Solid Volume | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| poreVolume | Pore Volume | Required. Finite number. |
| porosity | Porosity | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This is bulk volume bookkeeping, not connected/open porosity, permeability or biological suitability.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use verified manufacturing records, measured geometry and an appropriate complete process/material assessment for actual construct quality, performance or safe use.
