Description
Return phantom solid and liquid-accessible volume fractions from masses.
Biofabrication bookkeeping separates nominal geometry, deposition, material bases, layer heights and verification assertions. A local surface, fill fraction or dimensional residual describes supplied values rather than demonstrating an actual construct’s shape, material quality or biological suitability.
Return phantom solid and liquid-accessible volume fractions from masses.
When to use this tool
Use Biofabrication Phantom Porosity Mass Factor when checking the stated benign build geometry, measurement, material or record convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter dryMass, envelopeVolume, solidDensity, absorbedMass, liquidDensity. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read solidFraction, accessibleFraction. Use the output convention below.
Return phantom solid and liquid-accessible volume fractions from masses. Require nonnegative dry/absorbed masses and positive envelopeVolume and densities; solidFraction = dryMass/(envelope*solidDensity), accessibleFraction = absorbedMass/(envelope*liquidDensity).1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| dryMass | Dry Mass | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| envelopeVolume | Envelope Volume | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| solidDensity | Solid Density | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| absorbedMass | Absorbed Mass | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| liquidDensity | Liquid Density | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| solidFraction | Solid Fraction Unit: 1. | Required. Finite number. |
| accessibleFraction | Absorbed-liquid volume divided by envelope volume; not capped at one or checked against solidFraction. Unit: 1. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Fractions are not capped or jointly balanced; this assumes appropriate densities and does not prove connected porosity or scaffold performance.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use verified manufacturing records, measured geometry and an appropriate complete process/material assessment for actual construct quality, performance or safe use.
