- Nondetection differs from ecological absence. No survey effort, species identity, detectability or complete presence record is verified.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Review specimens, original observations, sampling design and controlled taxonomic sources. Use complete detection, population and spatial methods when a local count fraction, source label or precision bin cannot answer the ecological or disclosure question.
