Description
Return blank-corrected signal and relative-reference response.
Optical and coupled-assay signals depend on blank subtraction, path length, dilution, calibration and linearity. A corrected ratio or local response slope can be calculated without establishing assay specificity, actual concentration or a biological/clinical result.
Return blank-corrected signal and relative-reference response.
When to use this tool
Use Blank Reference Relative Signal when checking the stated biochemical optical or response-correction convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter signal, blank, reference. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read correctedSignal, relativeSignal. Use the output convention below.
Return blank-corrected signal and relative-reference response. Require reference != blank; correctedSignal = signal-blank, relativeSignal = corrected/(reference-blank).1

} Limitations and assumptions
- Negative denominators and ratios are allowed; no calibration curve, assay specificity or biological result is validated.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use calibrated measurements and an appropriate validated assay model, including interference, linearity and uncertainty, for substantive concentration or biological conclusions.
