Biobank Sample Acquisition Precision Envelope Tool

Calculate biobank sample acquisition precision envelope from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Loading tool…

Description

Return an asymmetric sample-acquisition precision envelope.

Biobank quantity and time budgets use explicit parent/aliquot, dead-volume, clock and billing conventions. A remainder, delay envelope or fee term can reconcile supplied records without establishing specimen stability, safe use or actual contractual rights.

Return an asymmetric sample-acquisition precision envelope.

When to use this tool

Use Biobank Sample Acquisition Precision Envelope when checking the stated biobank volume, timing, precision or fee convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter reported, beforeWidth, afterWidth. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read earliest, latest, width. Use the output convention below.

Return an asymmetric sample-acquisition precision envelope. Require beforeWidth/afterWidth >= 0; earliest = reported-before, latest = reported+after, width sums both.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The widths are supplied reporting bounds, not a confidence interval, actual time verification or stability criterion.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified collection/storage records, suitable quality controls and governing billing/permission rules for actual specimen or payment decisions.
