Publication Type Weight Term Tool

Look up an explicit user-defined publication weight without asserting a universal bibliometric score.

Description

Return a publication-type weight from supplied records.

Bibliometric credit and citation indexes depend on corpus coverage, author/affiliation identity and a declared counting convention. A fractional contribution or index threshold describes supplied records without measuring research quality, causality or comparable scholarly impact across fields.

Return a publication-type weight from supplied records.

When to use this tool

Use Publication Type Weight Term when checking the stated bibliometric contribution, credit allocation or local index step.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter type, suppliedTypes, weights. Follow any array-alignment requirements below. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read known, weight. Inspect known before interpreting the associated values.

Return a publication-type weight from supplied records. Require aligned unique type labels and nonnegative weights; known tests membership, weight returns its corresponding value or zero for an unknown type.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • An unknown zero is not a verified zero-valued classification; the policy and publication type are not inferred.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified complete publication/citation data, identity resolution and a justified field/context-aware evaluation policy for research assessment.
