Description
Check one proposed next g-index threshold.
Bibliometric credit and citation indexes depend on corpus coverage, author/affiliation identity and a declared counting convention. A fractional contribution or index threshold describes supplied records without measuring research quality, causality or comparable scholarly impact across fields.
Check one proposed next g-index threshold.
When to use this tool
Use G Index Squared Sum Headroom when checking the stated bibliometric contribution, credit allocation or local index step.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter topCitationSum, currentG, nextPaperCitations. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read nextThreshold, projectedSum, headroom, reachesNext. Inspect reachesNext before interpreting the associated values.
Check one proposed next g-index threshold. Require nonnegative whole topCitationSum/currentG/nextPaperCitations; nextThreshold = (g+1)², projectedSum adds the next paper, headroom subtracts threshold, reaches includes equality.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| topCitationSum | Top Citation Sum | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| currentG | Current G | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| nextPaperCitations | Next Paper Citations | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| nextThreshold | Next Threshold | Required. Safe integer. |
| projectedSum | Projected Sum | Required. Safe integer. |
| headroom | Headroom | Required. Safe integer. |
| reachesNext | Projected supplied sum reaches (currentG+1)^2; current g and citation ordering are not verified. | Required. Boolean. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The supplied top sum/order/current g are not validated; this local step is not a complete g-index computation.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use verified complete publication/citation data, identity resolution and a justified field/context-aware evaluation policy for research assessment.
