Description
Format a supplied bibliographic retraction-status source and date.
Bibliographic records distinguish editions, publication states, author identifiers, dates and fractional-credit conventions. A DOI-shaped string may not resolve, and an ORCID-shaped string can fail its checksum. Supplied status and source labels organize evidence without establishing authorship, publication validity or a complete impact measure.
Format a supplied bibliographic retraction-status source and date.
When to use this tool
Use Bibliographic Retraction Status Source Tag when you already have workId, status, source, asOfDate and need to format a supplied bibliographic retraction-status source and date.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter workId, status, source, asOfDate. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read tag. Use the output convention below.
Require workId/source nonempty, a permitted status and a real YYYY-MM-DD asOfDate. Join work, status, source and date in a label.1

{
"input": {
"workId": "W17",
"status": "retracted",
"source": "publisher notice",
"asOfDate": "2026-11-01"
},
"output": {
"tag": "W17 [retracted; publisher notice; as of 2026-11-01]"
}
} Limitations and assumptions
- Not-recorded differs from proof of no retraction. No publisher notice, correction, live status, source authority or research validity is checked.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Check original publications, authoritative identifier records and current publisher notices. Define counting scope, credit allocation and date meaning before combining local labels or author overlaps into a bibliometric analysis.
