Description
Return one-based author position normalized by author count.
Bibliometric credit and citation indexes depend on corpus coverage, author/affiliation identity and a declared counting convention. A fractional contribution or index threshold describes supplied records without measuring research quality, causality or comparable scholarly impact across fields.
Return one-based author position normalized by author count.
When to use this tool
Use Author Position Normalized Share when checking the stated bibliometric contribution, credit allocation or local index step.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter position, authorCount. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read positionShare. Use the output convention below.
Return one-based author position normalized by author count. Require whole authorCount >= 1 and position 1..count; positionShare = position/authorCount.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| position | Position | Required. Safe integer; minimum 1. |
| authorCount | Author Count | Required. Safe integer; minimum 1. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| positionShare | One-based position/authorCount, not authorship credit. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This is a positional ratio, not fractional authorship credit, actual contribution or a field-independent role inference.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
