Description
Return portfolio image-slot capacity and signed remainder.
Studio-class budgets allocate supplied time, turns, places and materials. Reserved quantities and shared work affect the reporting denominator, and a negative remainder or undefined per-person amount is useful bookkeeping information. These arithmetic checks do not assess learning quality, accessibility or whether a real class can safely perform an activity.
Return portfolio image-slot capacity and signed remainder.
When to use this tool
Use Portfolio Spread Image Count Capacity when checking the stated studio allocation, participation, capacity or time budget.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter spreads, imagesPerSpread, reservedSlots, requiredImages. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read usableSlots, remainingSlots, missingSlots. Use the output convention below.
Return portfolio image-slot capacity and signed remainder. Require nonnegative whole counts and reservedSlots <= spreads*imagesPerSpread; usable subtracts reserved, remaining subtracts requiredImages, missing floors negative remaining at zero.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| spreads | Spreads | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| imagesPerSpread | Images Per Spread | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| reservedSlots | Reserved Slots | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| requiredImages | Required Images | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| usableSlots | Usable Slots | Required. Safe integer. |
| remainingSlots | Remaining Slots | Required. Safe integer. |
| missingSlots | Missing Slots | Required. Safe integer. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Slots are abstract counts; image size, page layout, accessibility and artistic quality are not evaluated.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
