Description
Return approximate label-line width and fit flag.
Labels, grid coordinates and color-wheel exercises use chosen text-counting and angle conventions. Character counts do not measure visual width, and cyclic indexing does not select a color model. Supplied glyph-width and layout assumptions are estimates rather than a rendered typography check.
Return approximate label-line width and fit flag.
When to use this tool
Use Classroom Exhibition Label Font Fit when checking the stated classroom label or cyclic-angle convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter lineCharacters, averageGlyphWidth, fontSize, labelWidth, horizontalMargin. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read requiredWidth, availableWidth, fits. Inspect fits before interpreting the associated values.
Return approximate label-line width and fit flag. Require nonnegative whole line counts, nonnegative glyph/font/margin sizes and labelWidth >= twice margin; requiredWidth = max(lineCharacters)*averageGlyphWidth*fontSize.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| lineCharacters | Line Characters | Required. Array of safe integer; maximum items 256. |
| averageGlyphWidth | Mean glyph width in multiples of fontSize; required width is character count*averageGlyphWidth*fontSize. | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| fontSize | Font Size | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| labelWidth | Label Width | Required. Finite number. |
| horizontalMargin | Horizontal Margin | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| requiredWidth | Required Width | Required. Finite number. |
| availableWidth | Available Width | Required. Finite number. |
| fits | Fits | Required. Boolean. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Glyph width is a supplied per-font-size factor; proportional fonts, shaping, graphemes and actual text layout are not rendered.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Inspect rendered labels and actual layout, and use a complete appropriate color or geometry model when visual appearance matters.
