Paper Fiber Expansion Relative Humidity Term Tool

Caller-calibrated local linear hygroscopic expansion; humidity change is in percentage points, not a fractional RH change.

Description

Return linear paper-length change per humidity percentage point.

Conservation measurements separate nominal material composition, contact geometry, expansion and mechanical response. A volume fraction or clearance term evaluates supplied properties under a limited model; actual material compatibility, treatment effects and object stability require examination and specialist judgment.

Return linear paper-length change per humidity percentage point.

When to use this tool

Use Paper Fiber Expansion Relative Humidity Term when checking the stated conservation material, dimensional or mechanical term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter length, expansionPerHumidityPoint, humidityChangePoints. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read lengthChange, finalLength. Use the output convention below.

Return linear paper-length change per humidity percentage point. Require nonnegative length/coefficient and nonnegative final scaling factor; change = length*coefficient*humidityChangePoints, final = length+change.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Humidity change is in percentage points, not a 0..1 fraction; actual paper response and safe environmental limits are not established.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use calibrated measurements, representative material tests and qualified conservation/engineering assessment before actual treatment, mounting or handling.
