Framed Art Edge Expansion Clearance Tool

Calculate framed art edge expansion clearance from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Return expanded artwork width and frame clearance.

Conservation measurements separate nominal material composition, contact geometry, expansion and mechanical response. A volume fraction or clearance term evaluates supplied properties under a limited model; actual material compatibility, treatment effects and object stability require examination and specialist judgment.

Return expanded artwork width and frame clearance.

When to use this tool

Use Framed Art Edge Expansion Clearance when checking the stated conservation material, dimensional or mechanical term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter artWidth, frameOpening, expansionFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read expandedWidth, totalClearance, perSide. Use the output convention below.

Return expanded artwork width and frame clearance. Require nonnegative widths and expansionFraction >= -1; expanded = artWidth*(1+fraction), totalClearance = opening-expanded, perSide is half.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Negative clearance reports interference; centering, material behavior and an appropriate or safe expansion allowance are not established.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use calibrated measurements, representative material tests and qualified conservation/engineering assessment before actual treatment, mounting or handling.
