Scan-on-Demand Turnaround Business Days Estimator
Schedule caller FIFO scan demand including known queued pages on actual productive-day calendar, without assuming weekends/holidays or guaranteed turnaround.
Description
Scan turnaround depends on both existing queued work and available productive days.
Scan turnaround depends on both existing queued work and available productive days. An explicit calendar prevents calendar-day assumptions from hiding weekends, closures or missing coverage.1
Schedule caller FIFO scan demand including known queued pages on actual productive-day calendar, without assuming weekends/holidays or guaranteed turnaround.
When to use Scan-on-Demand Turnaround Business Days Estimator
Use this tool to schedule caller FIFO scan demand including known queued pages on actual productive-day calendar, without assuming weekends/holidays or guaranteed turnaround.
Prepare the inventory, measurements or policy dates for the collection and reporting period. Confirm units, record order and any independently established thresholds or permissions.
How to use Scan-on-Demand Turnaround Business Days Estimator and understand its results
- Prepare the inventory, measurements or policy dates for the collection and reporting period. Confirm units, record order and any independently established thresholds or permissions.
- Enter requestStartDayOrdinal, queuedScanPagesBeforeRequest, requestScanPages, callerAcceptedPagesPerProductiveDay, suppliedProductiveDayOrdinals using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read requiredWholeProductiveDaysIncludingQueue, modeledRequestCompletionOrdinal, completionWithinSuppliedCalendar. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| requestStartDayOrdinal | Request start day ordinal | integer | Required |
| queuedScanPagesBeforeRequest | Queued scan pages before request | integer | Required |
| requestScanPages | Request scan pages | integer | Required |
| callerAcceptedPagesPerProductiveDay | Caller accepted pages per productive day | number | Required |
| suppliedProductiveDayOrdinals | Supplied productive day ordinals | list of number | Required |
Enter nonnegative integer queue and request pages, a positive productive-day rate, a nonnegative start ordinal and an increasing supplied productive-day calendar. The tool adds queue and request demand, rounds required days upward and consumes productive dates strictly after the start. Zero demand completes at the start. Insufficient calendar coverage returns completion −1 and false.
productive days = ceil[(queuedPages+requestPages)/acceptedPagesPerProductiveDay] Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| requiredWholeProductiveDaysIncludingQueue | Required whole productive days including queue | number |
| modeledRequestCompletionOrdinal | Modeled request completion ordinal | number |
| completionWithinSuppliedCalendar | Completion within supplied calendar | boolean |

} Limitations and assumptions
This assumes FIFO processing and a constant accepted-page rate. The supplied calendar determines available days; dates are not synthesized beyond it. Staffing changes, rework and other bottlenecks are excluded.
Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Numeric lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors. A successfully returned false flag is an evaluated outcome; its meaning is explained above.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use Processing Time per Linear Foot Estimator (MPLP): Budget MPLP processing workload by measured series extents, caller complexity rates and explicit setup overhead; no universal hours-per-foot or description-quality guarantee. For a complementary task, use Daily Retrieval Rate Productivity Metric Calculator: Separate successful retrieval productivity from failed attempts and actual productive shift hours; unlike QC digitization count, request success exposure is explicit and not a staffing recommendation.
