Salvage Priority Rank by Format Value Matrix Resolver

Rank explicit object format/value policy cells with stable ties; no invented significance, treatment feasibility or permission to expose staff to unsafe salvage conditions.

Description

Salvage ranking can apply an institution's format-and-value priority matrix to a documented inventory.

Salvage ranking can apply an institution's format-and-value priority matrix to a documented inventory. Stable ties retain original item order so equal priorities remain predictable.1

Rank explicit object format/value policy cells with stable ties; no invented significance, treatment feasibility or permission to expose staff to unsafe salvage conditions.

When to use Salvage Priority Rank by Format Value Matrix Resolver

Use this tool to rank explicit object format/value policy cells with stable ties; no invented significance, treatment feasibility or permission to expose staff to unsafe salvage conditions.

Prepare the inventory, measurements or policy dates for the collection and reporting period. Confirm units, record order and any independently established thresholds or permissions.

How to use Salvage Priority Rank by Format Value Matrix Resolver and understand its results

  1. Prepare the inventory, measurements or policy dates for the collection and reporting period. Confirm units, record order and any independently established thresholds or permissions.
  2. Enter objectFormatCodes, callerValueClassCodes, callerFormatValuePriorityMatrix using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
  3. Read salvagePriorityCodes, stableCallerSalvageOrderIndices. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
  4. If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.

callerValueClassCodesCaller value class codeslist of numberRequired
callerFormatValuePriorityMatrixCaller format value priority matrixlist of list of numberRequired

Pair nonnegative integer format and value codes and supply a nonempty rectangular matrix of nonnegative finite priorities. Each code must address an existing row or column. The tool returns selected priority codes and zero-based item indices sorted by decreasing priority, breaking ties by original index.

Paired lists must be nonempty and have equal lengths.

priority_i = matrix[formatCode_i][valueCode_i]; order = descending priority, then original index

Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.

Limitations and assumptions

The tool applies the supplied policy rather than inferring significance or treatment feasibility. A ranking does not establish staff safety, access permission or a conservation procedure.

Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Matrices are limited to 128 rows and 128 entries per row; other numeric lists are limited to 100,000 entries. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use Preservation Risk Score Likelihood x Impact Calculator: Compute caller calibrated marginal expected losses and review flags; summed losses assume compatible additive outcomes and do not combine event probabilities or establish preservation safety. For a complementary task, use Collecting Gap Priority Matrix Cell Resolver: Resolve independently classified collecting gaps against caller explicit priority matrix without inventing classifications, thresholds or collecting mandates.
