Facade Module Remainder Tool

Return one residual facade width after supplied modules and explicit internal/edge joints.

Description

Return facade module-width remainder.

Building quantity takeoffs depend on inclusion/exclusion rules, repeated modules, joint placement and material thickness. Net area and ideal layer resistance are limited model quantities; actual fit, heat/moisture behavior and construction performance require the full assembly and measured material properties.

Return facade module-width remainder.

When to use this tool

Use Facade Module Remainder when checking the stated material, layer, module or takeoff convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter availableWidth, moduleCount, moduleWidth, internalJointWidth, leftEdgeJoint, rightEdgeJoint. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read remainder. Use the output convention below.

Return facade module-width remainder. Require nonnegative dimensions and whole moduleCount >= 0; subtract module widths, max(0,count-1) internal joints and both edge joints from availableWidth.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
availableWidthAvailable WidthRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
moduleCountNonnegative whole module count; both supplied edge joints are deducted even when count is zero.Required. Safe integer; minimum 0.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Edge joints are still deducted for zero modules; negative remainder is retained without establishing actual layout or safe installation.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use complete drawings, specifications and suitable assembly/material analysis for actual procurement, hygrothermal performance or construction.
