Fish Plant Water Exchange Balance Term Tool

Calculate fish plant water exchange balance term from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Return fish and plant water-transfer balance terms.

Aquaponic balances distinguish wet feed, dry matter, nutrient mass, concentration and water volume. A balance term can expose changes or losses without identifying nutrient availability, biological conversion or a suitable supplement dose. Each mass fraction must be attached to its stated material basis.

Return fish and plant water-transfer balance terms.

When to use this tool

Use Fish Plant Water Exchange Balance Term when checking the stated aquaponic material, nutrient or measurement basis.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter fishToPlant, plantToFish, freshToFish, fishLoss. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read fishNet, plantTransferNet. Use the output convention below.

Return fish and plant water-transfer balance terms. Require nonnegative transfer/inflow/loss amounts; fishNet = plantToFish+freshToFish-fishToPlant-loss, plantTransferNet = fishToPlant-plantToFish.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Amounts share a common interval; missing storage, plant inflows/losses and actual system conditions are not modeled.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use calibrated measurements and a complete system nutrient/water balance with qualified professional interpretation for actual management.
