Description
Return ideal hydraulic and modeled input pump power.
Aquaponic flow and storage models depend on usable pore space, reserve volume, pump head and operating duration. An ideal hydraulic power or nominal turnover term describes supplied values while actual flow distribution, aeration and equipment performance require measurement and system design.
Return ideal hydraulic and modeled input pump power.
When to use this tool
Use Aquaponic Pump Head Height Factor when checking the stated aquaponic flow, volume or power term.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter flowM3PerSecond, density, gravity, height, efficiency. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read hydraulicWatts, modeledInputWatts. Use the output convention below.
Return ideal hydraulic and modeled input pump power. Require nonnegative flow/height, positive density/gravity and efficiency in (0,1]; hydraulicWatts = flowM3PerSecond*density*gravity*height, input divides by efficiency.1
The watt is a unit of power and the joule a unit of energy. A watt-hour equals 3600 joules; multiplying watts by supplied hours does not directly produce joules.2

| gravity | Gravity | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| height | Pump head in metres. | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| efficiency | Hydraulic/input power fraction in (0,1]. | Required. Finite number; maximum 1; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| hydraulicWatts | Hydraulic Watts | Required. Finite number. |
| modeledInputWatts | Modeled Input Watts | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Use SI quantities for watts; losses beyond supplied head/efficiency, electrical safety and actual pump suitability are not assessed.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use measured flows and verified equipment/system specifications with qualified engineering and aquaculture review for real operation.
