Description
Return ideal grow-bed fill volume and time.
Aquaponic flow and storage models depend on usable pore space, reserve volume, pump head and operating duration. An ideal hydraulic power or nominal turnover term describes supplied values while actual flow distribution, aeration and equipment performance require measurement and system design.
Return ideal grow-bed fill volume and time.
When to use this tool
Use Aquaponic Growbed Flood Time Flow Factor when checking the stated aquaponic flow, volume or power term.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter bedVolume, availablePorosity, initialLiquid, flow. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read fillVolume, nominalTime. Use the output convention below.
Return ideal grow-bed fill volume and time. Require nonnegative bed volume, porosity in [0,1], initial liquid within pore capacity and flow > 0; fillVolume = bed*porosity-initial, nominalTime = fill/flow.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |

| availablePorosity | Available Porosity | Required. Finite number; minimum 0; maximum 1. |
| initialLiquid | Initial Liquid | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| flow | Flow | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| fillVolume | Fill Volume | Required. Finite number. |
| nominalTime | Nominal Time | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This assumes constant net inflow and supplied available pores; drainage, mixing, media properties and safe operating levels are not established.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use measured flows and verified equipment/system specifications with qualified engineering and aquaculture review for real operation.
