Fish Grade Threshold Tie Rule Tool

Resolve a supplied grading measurement boundary without assigning a species or market grade.

Description

Select a grade side under an equality policy.

Aquaculture estimates expand supplied samples, classify explicit counts and compare measurements with caller-chosen references. A zero placeholder or split count is a reporting result rather than evidence of absence or a biological diagnosis. Sampling representativeness and actual animal conditions require separate assessment.

Select a grade side under an equality policy.

When to use this tool

Use Fish Grade Threshold Tie Rule when checking the stated aquaculture estimate, class or record convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter measurement, boundary, equalityToUpper. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read gradeSide. Use the output convention below.

Select a grade side under an equality policy. gradeSide is upper for measurement > boundary or exact equality with equalityToUpper, otherwise lower.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The boundary and measurement are supplied; no industry grade, animal quality or suitable harvesting decision is established.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use calibrated representative measurements and an appropriate complete statistical or husbandry assessment with qualified professionals.
