Description
Return original-water retention across ideal mixed exchanges.
Tank geometry, exchange and equipment budgets use explicit volume, flow, mixing and efficiency assumptions. Ideal complete mixing differs from replacing distinct water portions, and energy usage differs from power. Nominal calculations do not establish actual oxygenation, animal welfare or safe installation.
Return original-water retention across ideal mixed exchanges.
When to use this tool
Use Aquaculture Water Exchange Fraction Term when checking the stated aquaculture geometry, exchange or equipment term.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter volume, exchangedVolume, exchanges. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read perExchangeFraction, originalWaterRemainingFraction. Use the output convention below.
Return original-water retention across ideal mixed exchanges. Require volume > 0, exchange volume within it and nonnegative whole exchanges; perExchangeFraction = exchanged/volume, retention = (1-fraction)^exchanges.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| volume | Volume in the unit implied by the stated geometry; no implicit unit conversion. | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| exchangedVolume | Exchanged Volume | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| exchanges | Exchanges | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| perExchangeFraction | Per Exchange Fraction | Required. Finite number. |
| originalWaterRemainingFraction | Original Water Remaining Fraction | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This assumes restored constant tank volume and complete mixing for each exchange; actual water quality and suitable operating conditions are not inferred.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
