Stores Depletion Rate Per Week

Fit net store trend after explicit cumulative feed additions; assumes store mass has already been corrected for hive/brood tare and does not attribute all loss to consumption.

Description

A store trend can be corrected for cumulative feed additions before estimating net depletion.

A store trend can be corrected for cumulative feed additions before estimating net depletion. A fitted decline represents net mass change rather than attributing every loss to consumption.1

Fit net store trend after explicit cumulative feed additions; assumes store mass has already been corrected for hive/brood tare and does not attribute all loss to consumption.

When to use Stores Depletion Rate Per Week

Use this tool to fit net store trend after explicit cumulative feed additions; assumes store mass has already been corrected for hive/brood tare and does not attribute all loss to consumption.

Prepare the hive, sample or operating measurements and any supplied target values. Confirm units, timing and whether counts or masses refer to the same population or batch.

How to use Stores Depletion Rate Per Week and understand its results

  1. Prepare the hive, sample or operating measurements and any supplied target values. Confirm units, timing and whether counts or masses refer to the same population or batch.
  2. Enter timesWeeks, measuredStoresKg, cumulativeAddedFeedKg using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
  3. Read correctedStoreChangeKgPerWeek, estimatedNetDepletionKgPerWeek, fitRSquared. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
  4. If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.

measuredStoresKgMeasured stores kglist of numberRequired
cumulativeAddedFeedKgCumulative added feed kglist of numberRequired

Pair at least two increasing times in weeks with nonnegative stores and nonnegative cumulative feed. Cumulative additions cannot decrease. Fit a line to corrected stores and return signed change in kg/week, its negative as depletion, and R². Growth therefore gives negative depletion.

Paired lists must be nonempty and have equal lengths. Each sequence checked for increasing order must contain at least two strictly increasing values. The least-squares fit needs at least two aligned observations and a varying independent variable. Where R² is returned, the helper assigns 1 for a constant dependent variable.

correctedStores_i = measuredStores_i−cumulativeFeed_i; depletionRate = −OLS slope

Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.

Limitations and assumptions

Stores must already be corrected for hive and brood tare. External gains, losses, moisture and measurement uncertainty are not attributed. The fitted rate is not automatically a constant future consumption rate.

Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Numeric lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use Hive Weight Alert Delta Monitoring: Monitor interval hive-weight changes after supplied external loading/removal corrections against caller strict delta threshold; not automatic swarm, forage or theft identification. For a complementary task, use Feeder Jar Refill Frequency: Locate the first forecast feeder reserve crossing with piecewise-constant daily withdrawal; this is not a fixed refill schedule or feeding recommendation.
