Description
Return a supplied body-mass power.
Animal feed, milk and scaling terms require explicit dry-matter, energy, component and body-size bases. Empirical coefficients and caller-supplied prices are not universal biological laws. An intake or cost estimate does not select a diet, predict health or establish an appropriate intervention.
Return a supplied body-mass power.
When to use this tool
Use Livestock Metabolic Body Weight Factor when checking the stated intake, composition, cost or allometric convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter bodyMass, exponent. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read metabolicMass. Use the output convention below.
Return a supplied body-mass power. Require bodyMass > 0; metabolicMass = bodyMass^exponent.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| bodyMass | Body Mass | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| exponent | Exponent | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| metabolicMass | bodyMass^exponent; depends on the chosen mass unit and has unit mass^exponent. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The exponent and mass unit determine the result's scale; this is not measured metabolic rate, energy requirement or a feeding recommendation.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use verified animal/feed measurements, the intended validated model and qualified veterinary/nutrition advice for care or feeding decisions.
