Description
Calculate supplied interval live-weight change per day.
Animal records distinguish measurements, count-time exposure, mass fractions, percentages and nominal feed differences. Offered-minus-refused mass does not verify ingestion, and live-weight loss does not identify its cause. Source labels and scalar rates preserve supplied observations without assessing health or suitable care.
Calculate supplied interval live-weight change per day.
When to use this tool
Use Livestock Live Weight Gain Interval when you already have startMass, endMass, elapsedDays and need to calculate supplied interval live-weight change per day.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter startMass, endMass, elapsedDays. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read massChange, massChangePerDay. Use the output convention below.
Require both masses>=0 and elapsedDays>0; return end-start and change/days.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| startMass | Start Mass | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| endMass | End Mass | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| elapsedDays | Elapsed Days | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| massChange | Mass Change | Required. Finite number. |
| massChangePerDay | Mass Change Per Day | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Negative gain is accepted. Comparable units and measurement conditions are assumed; no growth model, feed efficiency, health or suitable management is inferred.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Review original animal, feed, weighing and observation records with the complete professional assessment. Check sampling scope, calibration and welfare context before interpreting local fractions or count balances as management or clinical conclusions.
