Description
Calculate supplied live-weight loss and its initial-weight fraction.
Animal records distinguish measurements, count-time exposure, mass fractions, percentages and nominal feed differences. Offered-minus-refused mass does not verify ingestion, and live-weight loss does not identify its cause. Source labels and scalar rates preserve supplied observations without assessing health or suitable care.
Calculate supplied live-weight loss and its initial-weight fraction.
When to use this tool
Use Livestock Live Weight Shrink Share when you already have initialLiveWeight, laterLiveWeight and need to calculate supplied live-weight loss and its initial-weight fraction.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter initialLiveWeight, laterLiveWeight. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read weightLoss, shrinkFraction. Use the output convention below.
Require initialLiveWeight>0 and laterLiveWeight>=0; loss=initial-later and shrink=loss/initial.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| initialLiveWeight | Initial Live Weight | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| laterLiveWeight | Later Live Weight | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| weightLoss | Weight Loss | Required. Finite number. |
| shrinkFraction | Shrink Fraction | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Weight gain gives negative shrinkage. No actual dehydration, transport effect, body composition, welfare or cause is inferred.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Review original animal, feed, weighing and observation records with the complete professional assessment. Check sampling scope, calibration and welfare context before interpreting local fractions or count balances as management or clinical conclusions.
