Description
Normalize a supplied lameness-research score.
Animal observations distinguish recorded events, classification tokens, count expectations and measurement residuals. A normalized score or supplied activity transition is not a diagnosis or validated behavioral interpretation. Unknown records and incomplete observation windows must remain explicit.
Normalize a supplied lameness-research score.
When to use this tool
Use Livestock Lameness Research Score Anchor when checking the stated animal observation, score, count or time convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter score, scaleMinimum, scaleMaximum, reverse. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read normalized. Use the output convention below.
Normalize a supplied lameness-research score. Require score within an ordered nonzero-width scale; normalized = (score-min)/(max-min), or its reversed orientation.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| score | Score | Required. Finite number. |
| scaleMinimum | Scale Minimum | Required. Finite number. |
| scaleMaximum | Scale Maximum | Required. Finite number. |
| reverse | Reverse | Required. Boolean. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| normalized | Research-score position between supplied anchors, reversed when requested; not a diagnosis. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The scale and score are assertions; no lameness detection, diagnosis, welfare severity or clinical treatment is determined.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Inspect the original animal and observation records, use an appropriate statistical model and consult qualified veterinary/husbandry professionals for health or welfare decisions.
